The design team is comprised of Engineer Giovanni Ceccarelli and five other engineers, both Italian and foreign, based mainly at the Ceccarelli Yacht Design offices at Ravenna.
The new rules governing the 2007 challenge, together with Valencia's different weather conditions compared to Aukland, will permit many innovations to today's craft.
Relations will be maintained with Italian and foreign consulting companies for research into the structural field, tests in naval docks and for wind tunnel tests on hull appendages.
The design work is following logical research development with the purpose of having the first boat in the water by the end of 2005.
Giovanni Ceccarelli - +39 Principal Designer
I associate Lake Garda and the "Circolo Vela Gargnano" with memories of my sailing and professional training starting from my first keel the Flying Junior, constructed in 1974 by Italo Galetti; with the debut of my first mini-ton design in 1979 called Anita, with the numerous victories of Machete, the dominator of the Garda cruise class and recent winner of the "Centomiglia", with the memorable flight of "Dimore del Garda", that by charging at over 25 knots won the "Centomiglia" in 1993; by doing so it set the still unbeaten record of 6 hours and 15 minutes.
And again with + 39, the challenge launched by "Circolo Vela Gargnano" where I am at my second design experience in the America's Cup, as chief designer.
I am in charge of researching and designing the group's two new boats and of making modifications to the training craft.
Some of the designers have already worked with me on important projects; we have worked together on at least another challenge or specific experience in similar craft. They are therefore highly experienced technicians who I absolutely esteem and trust.
